Heavenly Desserts by Chef Jeng: Marikina’s Favorite Cake and Dessert Store

Heavenly Desserts Marikina“Beautiful and tastes even better than it looks. Ingredients are very obviously high quality…”

When people talk about the best cake shop in Marikina, one name often comes up—Heavenly Desserts by Chef Jeng. Known for its premium cakes, handcrafted pastries, and luxurious desserts, Heavenly Desserts has quickly become one of the most sought-after dessert shops in Marikina City and Metro Manila.

From Belgian chocolate cakes and Basque burnt cheesecakes to fresh strawberry shortcakes and Filipino-inspired desserts, Heavenly Desserts delivers a truly indulgent experience that satisfies both casual dessert lovers and serious cake connoisseurs.

From Passion Project to Popular Dessert Brand

Every successful dessert shop starts with a story, and the story of Heavenly Desserts by Chef Jeng is one of passion, resilience, and creativity.

Chef Jeng did not originally plan to become a pastry chef. As a college student, she first aimed to pursue a career in physical therapy, but after not being accepted into the program, she shifted paths and studied civil engineering instead. It was during this time that she met her future husband, who would later become her partner in several entrepreneurial ventures.

Her true calling eventually emerged when she completed an advanced pastry and baking course at the Academy of Pastry Arts Philippines, followed by further training in Malaysia. These experiences refined her skills and laid the foundation for what would later become one of the most popular cake and dessert brands in Metro Manila.

How the Pandemic Sparked a Baking Business

Like many businesses born during the pandemic, Heavenly Desserts Marikina started as a home-based venture.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, Chef Jeng rediscovered her passion for baking. To share her creations, she began posting baking videos and dessert content on YouTube and social media, Her beautifully crafted cakes quickly attracted attention, and friends encouraged her to start selling them.

Soon, her home-based baking operation was receiving up to 50 inquiries daily. Demand grew so rapidly that her home’s dining room, living room, and garage were converted into makeshift baking kitchens.

To keep up with the surge of orders, Chef Jeng even trained staff from her construction business who were temporarily out of work, giving them an alternative source of income while expanding the dessert operation.

What started as a pandemic baking hobby soon evolved into a thriving cake and dessert business.

Expanding Heavenly Desserts Across Metro Manila

As the popularity of Heavenly Desserts by Chef Jeng continued to grow, customers from across Metro Manila began requesting easier access to the cakes and pastries.

After lockdown restrictions eased, Chef Jeng opened a pickup location in Las Piñas City to serve customers from the southern metro. To support the expansion, she tapped into ₱500,000 from her Sun Life VUL policy, guided by her financial advisor.

The investment paid off.

Today, Heavenly Desserts has grown into a multi-branch dessert brand with more than nine locations.

This rapid growth has cemented Heavenly Desserts’ reputation as one of the best cake and pastry brands in Metro Manila.

In spite of it all, Chef Jeng’s journey goes beyond baking—it is also a story of smart entrepreneurship and diversification.

In 2022, she became a principal shareholder in District One Gastrolounge in BGC, partnering with friends to launch the restaurant. The venture proved successful, reaching break-even within three months.

She also prioritized financial planning and business security, exploring business insurance solutions to protect her growing brand.

This strategic mindset helped ensure that Heavenly Desserts by Chef Jeng continues to expand sustainably.

Today, Heavenly Desserts has more than nine physical locations, including one in Makati, BGC (Taguig), Pasay, Quezon City, Ortigas, and its Marikina headquarters.

What’s in a name?

Cakes and desserts for the average person are mostly about taste and appetite, but for an aspiring connoisseur, it’s something more. There’s something about our taste buds that influences and impacts us differently as an experience, providing an out-of-this-world gratification to the whole being, to the soul, as you might say. Without saying outright, it’s ‘heaven on earth,’ which is why Heavenly Desserts was named as such.
