The Itchyworms to light up Dubai and Abu Dhabi with back-to-back concerts this January 2026

The Pinoy pop-rock legend is set to bring decades of music, humor, and warmth to the Middle East audience

Multi-awarded Filipino pop-rock outfit The Itchyworms is set to bring their widely celebrated “Akin Ka Na Lang” tour to Dubai and Abu Dhabi this January 2026. Marking their highly anticipated return to the Middle East after more than a decade, the Love Team act will be performing some of their greatest hits and rarities at the Pakistan Auditorium in Dubai and at New Bar, Arkadia, in Abu Dhabi on January 17 and 18, respectively.

The two-city run aims to rekindle the band’s connection with their overseas Filipino audience and, at the same time, bring a full-circle moment in a journey that started in the region decades ago.

“Our first-ever out-of-the-country tour was in Dubai and Abu Dhabi way back in 2007,” the band shares. “We’ve been back a few times since, but our last UAE show was in 2014. We are so excited to fly back and perform for our kababayan out there! ”

For The Itchyworms, returning to the Middle East is both nostalgic and momentous. Since their last performance in the region, the band has continued to evolve musically, perform on international stages, and expand their iconic catalog while remaining anchored in the melodic pop-rock DNA that fans love.

Now, with a renewed sense of artistry and confidence, The Itchyworms are ready to deliver a show that honors their humble beginnings while celebrating their creative growth as artists. “When we first went there, we were still very young and in our 20s. Now, we are more mature musically, as individuals and as a band. This return feels very special.”

Known for their contagious energy and famously interactive live shows, The Itchyworms are poised to take overseas audiences “home,” even if just for a few hours. Fans can also expect a powerhouse setlist composed of chart-toppers, deep cuts, crowd favorites, and few surprises sprinkled in.

“Our out-of-country sets are highly interactive,” admits the award-winning band. “Sometimes, we end up playing for 2.5 or even 3 hours. We always make it a point to bring back our kababayan to the Philippines, even for just a short time.”

Beyond the music, the trip provides an opportunity for the band to reconnect with the region’s culture and people. The Itchyworms are especially eager to explore the rapidly changing cityscapes, particularly Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa.

“It’s been 12 years since our last performance in the Middle East,” The Itchyworms admit. “Aside from the yummy food, we’re very excited to see Burj Khalifa up close. It wasn’t even built yet when we were last there.”

Ely Buendia, Chito Miranda, and Arnel Pineda to headline ‘OPM Legends’ concert in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is set to witness a truly historic night for Original Pilipino Music (OPM) as Ely Buendia, Chito Miranda, and Arnel Pineda unite on one stage for the very first time at the Etihad Arena on January 10, 2026. The highly anticipated concert promises an exciting celebration of music and legacy as it presents three rock icons who have left an indelible mark on the Filipino music landscape.

Fans can expect a powerful showcase featuring beloved anthems from each artist’s storied career, along with surprises that music fans would surely enjoy.

Ely Buendia, frontman and principal songwriter of the iconic Eraserheads, is credited for propelling Pinoy alternative rock to unprecedented commercial and artistic heights throughout the ‘90s and beyond. Apart from his timeless work with the Eraserheads, Buendia has successfully transitioned into a prolific solo act. His most recent album, Method Adaptor (2024), has garnered universal acclaim, recently winning Album of the Year at the New Hue Video Music Awards and Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino at the 38th Awit Awards. He was also part of a historic San Diego Comic-Con panel promoting Eraserheads: Combo On The Run, the first Filipino film ever featured at the event, set for global theatrical release in February 2026.

Parokya Ni Edgar’s Chito Miranda has long been celebrated for incorporating humor, wit, heart, and originality into one of the Philippines’ most enduring music catalogs. With classic hits such as “Harana,” “Your Song,” “Pangarap Lang Kita,” “Halaga,” and “Inuvman Na,” PNE has produced songs that deeply resonate with Filipino audiences. The band’s signature fusion of rock, novelty, and authentic Pinoy storytelling reflects the creative ingenuity that has defined their decades-spanning success.

Arnel Pineda, the powerhouse vocalist responsible for revitalizing global rock phenomenon Journey, stands as one of the country’s most important international success stories. Since joining the multi-platinum supergroup, Pineda has captivated fans with showstopping vocals and dynamic stage presence. His debut tour with the band has racked up more than $35 million in sales, leading to legendary performances that include the Super Bowl XLIII pregame show and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. His journey from promising local talent to global rock frontman remains one of the most inspiring achievements in modern music.

The special gathering brings together three musical forces whose impact transcends genres, eras, and borders.

The OPM Legends is proudly presented by Live NationDVent Productions, and Tiana Entertainment bringing world-class Filipino talent to one of the region’s premier live entertainment destinations. Concert veterans Rhiza Pascua and Bojie Yangco, along with filmmaker and producer Diane Ventura, conceptualized the show with the intent of putting together some of the most prominent Pinoy rock legends on the international stage.

Soupstar Music closes 25th year in style with ‘New Era’ partnership

The independent music company celebrates its milestone with limited-edition cap release and a series of year-end events honoring OPM, culture, and community.

Manila, Philippines – Soupstar Music celebrates its 25th year in the Philippine music industry with a special partnership with global lifestyle brand New Era. The limited-edition cap, which was launched on November 13, 2025, at Hideout Resto & Bar in Quezon City, encapsulates Soupstar Music’s enduring influence in bridging music, street culture, and contemporary Filipino lifestyle.

The launch brought together the label’s vibrant community of artists, partners, and long-time supporters, capped off by performances from Moonstar88 and HEY JUNE!. The event also marks a symbolic intersection of Soupstar Music’s legacy and future direction.

Reflecting on this milestone, Soupstar Music shares that the secret to longevity lies not in treating the journey as a race but rather as a series of challenging laps that foster growth, resilience, and purpose.

“When we started Soupstar, we didn’t set any strict expectations,” the team recalls. “Reaching 25 years is an important event for any management company. It’s a moment that deserves celebration, one that stands as a testament to our hard work, passion, and dedication through the years.”

Soupstar Music’s yearlong celebration includes Soupstar Night at 123 Block, the Soupstar Museum at Velvet Playground, and the packed anniversary event, 25 Years of Torete at Eton Centris. The collaboration with New Era stands as one of the company’s most distinctive commemorative highlights.

A longtime supporter of the headwear powerhouse, Soupstar Music CEO Darwin Hernandez shares how the partnership unfolded. “I am a big fan of caps, especially those from New Era. Through the years, New Era and Soupstar have been supporting each other in different events. One time, lumabas na lang yung idea na magkaroon ng New Era and Soupstar cap collab. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect since we’re celebrating 25 years this year.”

During the launch. Moonstar88 and HEY JUNE! delivered incredible sets that serve as a fitting homage to the label’s history and future. “It’s a simple celebration of Soupstar artists and friends,” adds Hernandez. “Moonstar88 is the first band that we signed and managed. Meanwhile, HEY JUNE! represents the start of our new era.”

Yearlong anniversary celebration

As part of its 25th anniversary festivities, Soupstar Music partners with Eton Centris and Redlines Entertainment Production for two major events this November:

Beyond Beats: An Eton Celebration of Music and Gratitude

November 5, 2025 – Eton Centris Activity Center, Quezon City

Eton City Thanksgiving

November 29, 2025 – Eton City, Laguna

Both events will be headlined by Moonstar88, who also celebrated the 25th anniversary of their iconic hit “Torete” this year. The band is gearing up to release new material in 2026, adding excitement to their participation in the festivities.

A legacy of championing OPM

For 25 years, Soupstar Music has shaped the landscape of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) as a dedicated management team and independent record label representing diverse and genre-defining acts, including 6cyclemind, Banda ni Kleggy, Better Days, Gracenote, HEY JUNE!, Imago, Jem, Kiss n’ Tell, Mizael, Moonstar88, Sandwich, Teeth, The Vowels They Orbit, Ultracombo (Raymund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala), and WE GOT.

The label has consistently expanded its reach by producing local concerts, bar tours, mall tours, campus tours, and corporate events. As the industry continues to evolve, Soupstar Music remains steadfast in its mission. “Tuloy-tuloy lang naman kami. Kung ano’ng available platforms, we are present. Furthermore, we continue to collaborate with record labels. I still stand and believe in this partnership,” Hernandez reasserts.

Looking Ahead

As it marks a quarter-century of elevating Filipino talent and artistry, Soupstar Music’s vision for the future remains rooted in its core values. “We’ll keep moving forward and continue to hold dear what we stand for and believe is important. We’ll continue to release songs and manage artists. We’re here to guide and provide quality support to the talents that we manage. We’re here to stay.”

On the new music, Meghan shares, “‘Still Don’t Care’ really sets the tone for this whole Toy With Me era—it’s bold, fun, a little cheeky, and full of confidence. This song came from a place of growth for me; I’m learning to care less about perfection and more about what actually makes me happy. I’m learning to shake off negativity, choosing joy, and living life my way — because at this point in my life and career, I’m ready to be done worrying about pleasing everyone. ‘Still Don’t Care’ is my reminder to myself—and to anyone who’s ever felt judged. Toy With Me feels like the most honest and fearless I’ve ever been—it’s all about self-confidence, freedom, and learning how to meet people where they are at. I wanted to kick off this new chapter with a song that makes people feel unstoppable, and I can’t wait to bring that same energy to everyone on The Get In Girl Tour next summer.”

Predator: Badlands — A Ruthless Return to the Hunt!

Building on the success of two recent Predator films, Predator Badlands is helping to establish a new Predator-Alien Universe (PAU). This universe connects the latest features, Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers, with earlier Alien prequels such as Alien Covenant and the original film starring Sigourney Weaver.

Predator Badlands expands on the lore of Predator life and the rite of passage for a much younger and inexperienced Yautja warrior named Dek. However, this film introduces a new alien species as the supposed prey for the warrior: the unkillable Kalisk, an apex predator. No Xenomorph in this film. With Dek’s ruthless father fearing the creature himself, Dek decides to take on a challenge his father cannot handle.

Before Dek can act, his father Njohrr intervenes with a ruthless agenda. Branded a runt, Dek faces the harsh Yautja tradition of culling the weak. When Dek’s brother Kwei, dares to defend him, their father executes Kwei instead, his fury only deepening as Dek slips away to the distant planet Genna, home of the Kalisk.

After crash-landing on Genna, Dek encounters several alien creatures. These include an octopus-spider-like vine creature, explosive caterpillars, an acid-spitting worm, a plant that shoots projectiles, and a flying creature, among others. None of which is the Kalisk, which Dek really wishes to bring home as a trophy. But nothing can make Dek happier than to avenge his brother. Death to Njohrr, their father!

On the planet, Dek encounters an injured synthetic (Elle Fanning) and a monkey-like creature with outstanding fighting abilities and invincibility. They name it Bud. While Dek searches for the Kalisk with Thia (Elle Fanning), the three become close traveling companions.

What distinguishes this film from the other AVP franchise is the Predator’s ability to converse with the two and form a bond as they share their experiences. A few lighthearted moments, such as the monkey-like creature spitting on Dek, were funny, but this will be useful later.

As the movie unfolds, we learn that Thia has a ruthless synthetic twin, Tessa, who was assigned by Weyland-Yutani to capture or return the Kalisk for its indestructible nature for profit. Dek realizes this too late, during his battle with the apex predator, narrowly avoiding death.

Tessa and Weyland-Yutani male synthetics, in turn, were able to capture and contain the Kalisk, along with Dek himself (and his weapons). Thia finally finds out that her twin has a murderous streak and helps Dek escape.

Dek finds Bud again and arms himself with organic weapons from the flora and fauna of the planet he encountered earlier in the film to rescue Thia and the Kalisk, who turns out to be Bud’s mother. Bud’s spit is what saved Dek from the Kalisk.  The Kalisk recognized the scent. The action-packed rescue is the film’s highlight.

A time jump, as Dek goes home to take revenge on his father, we see Thia and grown Bud become Dek’s clan members after he decapitates his father. For the rest of the film, we enjoin you to watch it.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter syd hartha chooses herself in “ako naman muna”

Following her string of introspective releases, acclaimed singer-songwriter syd hartha is back with her latest single, “ako naman muna,” out today via Sony Music Entertainment.

With bossa nova, Manila Sound, and alternative pop influences, the sweet, softly grooving pop track captures the push and pull dynamics of young romance that ultimately leads to letting go. Beneath its breezy, nostalgic arrangements lies a bittersweet realization that choosing yourself is the truest form of love.

“I wrote ‘ako naman muna’ after my first time experiencing a situationship,” syd shares. “As a lover girl at heart, I kept on giving so much of myself to someone who made me believe we wanted the same thing—to truly love each other. It took me a while to realize that wasn’t the case. It broke me, but it also inspired me to make it up to myself, to put myself first again and give the same kind of love I kept giving away back to me instead.”

Produced with a light, rhythmic touch that evokes the easy charm of 1970s Filipino pop, the track’s delicate percussions, subtle wind textures, and warm keys create an atmosphere that is both soothing and liberating. While its lyrics speak of pain and disillusionment, its sonic treatment tells a story of freedom: a sonic sigh of relief after heartbreak.

“The lyrics are already quite emotional and dramatic, so I didn’t want the song to sound or feel that way,” syd explains. “I wanted the production to sound the exact opposite: light, easy, and most especially, fun to listen to, because there’s joy and freedom in finally waking up, realizing your worth, and leaving a situation you don’t deserve to be in.”

“ako naman muna” also reflects syd’s new direction as an artist, one who continues to balance confessional vulnerability with sonic sophistication. Known for her compelling and personal lyrics and captivating storytelling, syd has found a way to infuse her personhood with playfulness, turning lessons in love and life into music that uplifts as much as it moves.

“This song shows how much I deal with pain now,” she adds. “Instead of letting shame and heartbreak weigh me down, I try to see things as lessons, not punishments. It’s about doing the right thing for yourself, and how freeing that can feel.”

syd hartha’s “ako naman muna” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
