On the new music, Meghan shares, “‘Still Don’t Care’ really sets the tone for this whole Toy With Me era—it’s bold, fun, a little cheeky, and full of confidence. This song came from a place of growth for me; I’m learning to care less about perfection and more about what actually makes me happy. I’m learning to shake off negativity, choosing joy, and living life my way — because at this point in my life and career, I’m ready to be done worrying about pleasing everyone. ‘Still Don’t Care’ is my reminder to myself—and to anyone who’s ever felt judged. Toy With Me feels like the most honest and fearless I’ve ever been—it’s all about self-confidence, freedom, and learning how to meet people where they are at. I wanted to kick off this new chapter with a song that makes people feel unstoppable, and I can’t wait to bring that same energy to everyone on The Get In Girl Tour next summer.”

The new album follows 2024’s Timeless, which was Meghan’s most confident and ambitious record yet. Timeless was accompanied by Meghan’s first headline tour in 8 years and the biggest of her career—a 26-show run that included sold-out stops at Madison Square Garden and the Kia Forum. Shortly after the tour wrapped Meghan was also honored with the Hitmaker Award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards, celebrating 10 years of hits since the release of her debut album, Title, and chart-topping smash, “All About That Bass.”

Next summer, Meghan heads back on the road for The Get In Girl Tour, which sees her return to over 30 arenas and amphitheaters across North America, featuring support from Icona Pop. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project. Predator: Badlands — A Ruthless Return to the Hunt!

Building on the success of two recent Predator films, Predator Badlands is helping to establish a new Predator-Alien Universe (PAU). This universe connects the latest features, Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers, with earlier Alien prequels such as Alien Covenant and the original film starring Sigourney Weaver.

Predator Badlands expands on the lore of Predator life and the rite of passage for a much younger and inexperienced Yautja warrior named Dek. However, this film introduces a new alien species as the supposed prey for the warrior: the unkillable Kalisk, an apex predator. No Xenomorph in this film. With Dek’s ruthless father fearing the creature himself, Dek decides to take on a challenge his father cannot handle.

Before Dek can act, his father Njohrr intervenes with a ruthless agenda. Branded a runt, Dek faces the harsh Yautja tradition of culling the weak. When Dek’s brother Kwei, dares to defend him, their father executes Kwei instead, his fury only deepening as Dek slips away to the distant planet Genna, home of the Kalisk.

After crash-landing on Genna, Dek encounters several alien creatures. These include an octopus-spider-like vine creature, explosive caterpillars, an acid-spitting worm, a plant that shoots projectiles, and a flying creature, among others. None of which is the Kalisk, which Dek really wishes to bring home as a trophy. But nothing can make Dek happier than to avenge his brother. Death to Njohrr, their father!

On the planet, Dek encounters an injured synthetic (Elle Fanning) and a monkey-like creature with outstanding fighting abilities and invincibility. They name it Bud. While Dek searches for the Kalisk with Thia (Elle Fanning), the three become close traveling companions.

What distinguishes this film from the other AVP franchise is the Predator’s ability to converse with the two and form a bond as they share their experiences. A few lighthearted moments, such as the monkey-like creature spitting on Dek, were funny, but this will be useful later.

As the movie unfolds, we learn that Thia has a ruthless synthetic twin, Tessa, who was assigned by Weyland-Yutani to capture or return the Kalisk for its indestructible nature for profit. Dek realizes this too late, during his battle with the apex predator, narrowly avoiding death.

Tessa and Weyland-Yutani male synthetics, in turn, were able to capture and contain the Kalisk, along with Dek himself (and his weapons). Thia finally finds out that her twin has a murderous streak and helps Dek escape.

Dek finds Bud again and arms himself with organic weapons from the flora and fauna of the planet he encountered earlier in the film to rescue Thia and the Kalisk, who turns out to be Bud’s mother. Bud’s spit is what saved Dek from the Kalisk.  The Kalisk recognized the scent. The action-packed rescue is the film’s highlight.

A time jump, as Dek goes home to take revenge on his father, we see Thia and grown Bud become Dek’s clan members after he decapitates his father. For the rest of the film, we enjoin you to watch it.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter syd hartha chooses herself in “ako naman muna”

Following her string of introspective releases, acclaimed singer-songwriter syd hartha is back with her latest single, “ako naman muna,” out today via Sony Music Entertainment.

With bossa nova, Manila Sound, and alternative pop influences, the sweet, softly grooving pop track captures the push and pull dynamics of young romance that ultimately leads to letting go. Beneath its breezy, nostalgic arrangements lies a bittersweet realization that choosing yourself is the truest form of love.

“I wrote ‘ako naman muna’ after my first time experiencing a situationship,” syd shares. “As a lover girl at heart, I kept on giving so much of myself to someone who made me believe we wanted the same thing—to truly love each other. It took me a while to realize that wasn’t the case. It broke me, but it also inspired me to make it up to myself, to put myself first again and give the same kind of love I kept giving away back to me instead.”

Produced with a light, rhythmic touch that evokes the easy charm of 1970s Filipino pop, the track’s delicate percussions, subtle wind textures, and warm keys create an atmosphere that is both soothing and liberating. While its lyrics speak of pain and disillusionment, its sonic treatment tells a story of freedom: a sonic sigh of relief after heartbreak.

“The lyrics are already quite emotional and dramatic, so I didn’t want the song to sound or feel that way,” syd explains. “I wanted the production to sound the exact opposite: light, easy, and most especially, fun to listen to, because there’s joy and freedom in finally waking up, realizing your worth, and leaving a situation you don’t deserve to be in.”

“ako naman muna” also reflects syd’s new direction as an artist, one who continues to balance confessional vulnerability with sonic sophistication. Known for her compelling and personal lyrics and captivating storytelling, syd has found a way to infuse her personhood with playfulness, turning lessons in love and life into music that uplifts as much as it moves.

“This song shows how much I deal with pain now,” she adds. “Instead of letting shame and heartbreak weigh me down, I try to see things as lessons, not punishments. It’s about doing the right thing for yourself, and how freeing that can feel.”

syd hartha’s “ako naman muna” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

OPM’s Rising Stars The Vowels We Orbit Unveil Their Most Personal EP Yet

the vowels we orbit wrap their sound in a nostalgic, melancholic haze, effortlessly channeling the spirit of ’90s rock. Listening to them feels like discovering Kitchie Nadal all over again, times two, with her distinctive influence clearly present in their sound. Their music is deep, contemplative, and wistful.

While comparisons may occur, the vowels we orbit, or simply VTO, have worked diligently to establish their distinct sound. With two EPs to their name, the band—comprising Nikka Melchor (guitar and vocals), Hannah dela Cruz (keyboard and vocals), Gene Santiago (guitar), and Patch Javier (drums)—has maintained their musical integrity throughout their careers, starting with Ang Unang Ikot in 2021, and tuloy tuloy tuloy in 2023.

These two EPs spawned hits for the band like Selos in 2019, already under Sony Music, and Kiliti a year after. Tuloy Tuloy Tuloy on the other hand, cemented VTO even more into familiarity with hits like Una, Sandali, Bangungot, and If You Come Back to Me, to name a few.

Moreover, their experience in the lull during the pandemic motivated them to create an even more uplifting and confident lineup of compositions, reflecting their ongoing personal growth and creativity. Introspection made releasing another EP feel destined. Yet, it took a full year before Soupstar Promotions finally recognized their efforts.

Perfect timing nonetheless propelled them even further as they dropped their third EP, fueled by the mentorship and wisdom of Eheads legends Buddy Zabala and Raymund Marasigan.

At a recent exclusive listening session, the band treated select members of the music press to an early taste of their latest EP,  gusto ko lang maalala. Introducing the foursome is Josh Villena, husband to VTO’s lead vocalist, who also performed two songs, namely Hello and Minsan.

As the group readied themselves and took the stage, a hush fell over the room, as everyone quietly soaked in the music and rediscovered the familiar singles that defined their sound from 2021 to 2023.

VTO performed two new singles for their third and latest EP called Para Bago and Miss Na Kita.

Feel the Flutter: FIFTY FIFTY’s ‘Too Much Part 1’ Makes Love Playful Again

Listen Here

K-pop sensation FIFTY FIFTY makes a bold return with their latest album, “Too Much Part 1,” now available on all streaming platforms. The project marks a new chapter in the group’s musical journey, capturing the modern sentiment of embracing love’s beginnings with fearless yet playful curiosity.

The new body of work brings to life the flutter, tension, and unpredictable energy that comes with overwhelming emotions. Inspired by motifs such as “a psychological game of confessing love as a playful challenge” and “the moment emotions burst into color,” the single perfectly balances raw intensity with FIFTY FIFTY’s signature vibrancy and playful charm. This release continues to pioneer “Fifty Pop,” a genre defined by honesty, energetic expression, and emotional nuance. “Too Much Part 1” invites fans to experience the excitement of love’s early moments, transforming vulnerability into a lively, colorful musical journey.

The main track being “Eeny Meeny Miny Moe,” is a thrill of a first crush turned into pop perfection. With a chanty hook, fluttering “Ba ba ba Badam” beats, and bright synths, the quintet makes the nervous excitement of young love irresistibly catchy. Skittlez makes emotions explode like a rainbow of candy in this playful, sensual track. Minimalist hip-hop vibes meet glossy vocals, making every lyric pop with color and energy. “Eeny meeny miny moe” (Eng. ver)” is a global version of the hit that retains its cute, lively charm while adding a confident, universal pop flair.  FIFTY FIFTY proves once again they’re masters of turning love, playfulness, and emotion into infectious music. The beloved girl group has been making significant strides in the global music scene. Their breakout hit, “Cupid,” not only became the longest-charting K-pop song in Billboard Hot 100 history at 25 consecutive weeks but also made them the first female K-pop act to reach the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number eight. The group further solidified their rising star status by winning the K-Pop Song of the Year for “Cupid (Twin Version)” at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Further solidifying their position as a global force in the music industry, they captivated audiences with shows during their U.S. tour last year and an album release earlier this year.

The five-piece collective continues to expand their artistic horizons while staying true to the heartfelt storytelling that defines their music. With a variety of ongoing music projects in the upcoming months, the group aspires to demonstrate their versatility as artists and work hard to build upon their growing success.

About FIFTY FIFTY

FIFTY FIFTY debuted in Nov 2022 and experienced a commercial breakthrough with their song “Cupid,” which became the longest-charting K-pop song in Billboard Hot 100 history at 25 consecutive weeks (peaking at #17) and reached #2 on the Billboard Global 200. The song became popular on TikTok due to a dance trend launched by the group, with over 2 million video creations on the ‘twin’ version and more on sped-up audios. Rather than most K-pop groups, which focus initially on the local market and Korean-language repertoire, FIFTY FIFTY’s songs leaned more heavily into Western pop sounds and English-language hooks, as seen in other tracks like “SOS” and “Gravity.” Just last year, they inked a U.S. record deal with Arista Records and released their comeback EP Love Tune. So far, the group has released two EPs—The FIFTY and Love Tune—along with one LP, The Beginning. They also contributed a song to the soundtrack of the blockbuster Barbie movie.

Why Locals Love La Vernice Cafe in Parang, Marikina, for Its Handcrafted Donuts and Comfort Food

It might surprise you to learn that La Vernice Café originally comes from Tarlac. Yes, the farthest branch from the main one is the Parang branch, neatly located at P. Lopez St., along Gen. B. G. Molina St., Marikina, 1809, Metro Manila. It’s just across the side of the Parang Barangay hall and at the back of Dada’s Panciteria.

The name was taken from the owner’s daughter, Vernice, so it’s no surprise that the proprietors are a family of food enthusiasts dedicated to providing delectable, well-crafted dishes and beverages at reasonable prices.

The Marikina branch maintains the name’s legacy by offering donuts, freshly brewed coffee, and comfort cuisine, all of which are infused with the same warmth and passion. However, this branch operates as a franchise, energized by the vision and drive of  young entrepreneurs at the helm.

Known for its handcrafted donuts and specialty espresso-based beverages, La Vernice has a well-loved cafe menu that includes baked breads, frappes, sandwiches, and silog meals. Each dish and beverage is prepared from scratch and is influenced by both traditional and contemporary comfort flavors.

The Visit

Concept and Inspiration:

The cafe offers coffee, handcrafted donuts, pastries, hearty meals, and specialty drinks. This branch, however, added an extra.  A Photo Booth. This photo booth recalls the classic 70s Photo Me, now enhanced with advanced touchscreen technology that offers a wider range of photography effects. The interface is as intuitive as a cellphone app.

Interestingly, this hi-tech photo booth can be rented out to interested parties for weddings or any other events. It’s 200 for two strips, and rental starts at 18,000 for unlimited photos for 3 hours, fully customizable.

Ambiance/Art Inspiration of Restaurant Interior:

La Vernice Café Marikina’s design combines soft teal, warm wood, and industrial details to create a modern yet inviting setting. The space is designed for relaxation and socialization, with an open bar and pastry display, as well as comfy seating for working or resting.

The café’s signature teal color adds personality and freshness to the space, accentuating the natural warmth of the glass windows and doors.
